As a group of passionate educators, the Sunflower Nation takes great pride in every course we teach. We have highly interactive and engaging teaching methods, making us an extremely sought-after choice for workshops, professional development, and semester-long classes. We cover various topics but specialize in Leadership, Communication, and Diversity.
In addition to teaching and workshops, the Sunflower Nation can host your next department or organization retreat. Our retreats create an unforgettable experience; whether hosted on-site or in the Caribbean, we work with our clients to plan stress-free, impactful, and memorable events. We can do as much or as little as the client desires, from identifying a location, to securing a caterer, and facilitating all sessions. Everything we do at the Sunflower Nation is customizable to meet the needs and budget of each client.

College Prep Courses:
We provide college prep courses for recent high school graduates to prepare them to enter the college environment. Our college prep courses are offered during the summer months, both in person and virtual. The program includes two one-on-one coaching sessions (one before the start of the program and one after the series). The course consists of six hours of small group instruction.

New Professional Coaching:
We provide small groups (3-6 members) workshops to assist new professionals with acclimation in the workforce. Organizations often contract these services to help with the onboarding process of entry-level positions, which usually have high turnover rates. Topics covered include Organizational Culture, Transitioning from Student to Professional, Professional Appearance, Communication, Office Politics, Conflict Management, and Diversity/Acceptance.

Parenting Groups:
We provide small group sessions to explore various parenting methods. While no two children are the same, learning how to interact with your child is imperative to yield the desired results. Parenting groups usually consist of 4-6 families and provide specific guidance for parenting in each phase of the child development process.
As an experienced and professional Leadership Coach, Dr. Banks has developed a coaching program exclusive to the Sunflower Nation. Our coaching program is customized to each client based on their specific needs. By working through the coaching process, clients overcome the hurdles and behaviors holding them back and discover their potential to make a real impact on themselves and their teams. We provide leadership coaching for individuals at all levels of leadership, from adolescent coaching to executive coaching.
Adolescent Coaching: Adolescent coaching is provided for youth between the ages of 14-19; during these sessions, we work with clients and their parents on setting goals to navigate the next phase of their lives. Plans are developed collaboratively between the client, parent, and coach. They can include topics such as academics, identifying a college or major, and developing healthy habits. We also work on life skills such as budgeting, health, relationships, conflict resolution, and communication. Each client is unique, and we work to meet your specific goals.

New Professional Coaching: We provide one-on-one coaching sessions to assist new professionals with acclimation in the workforce. In addition, we support our clients in developing strategic career plans.
New Leader Coaching: We provide one-on-one coaching for individuals who have transitioned from entry-level to mid-level leadership positions. During these sessions, clients work with a coach to identify areas of improvement and collaboratively develop measurable goals to access success while creating a strategic 5-7 year plan to continue growing both in title and salary. Some topics covered in New Leader Coaching include asserting yourself as a supervisor, humility, mental and physical health, communication, providing constructive feedback, and staff evaluations. Additionally, we allow clients to identify areas they view as challenging to manage in their new role.
Middle Management Coaching: we provide one-on-one coaching for individuals who aspire to strengthen their leadership abilities and move from middle management to senior and executive leadership roles. A key component of middle management coaching is a 360 leadership assessment that includes feedback from managers, peers, and subordinates on how members of the organization perceive the leader. Middle management coaching also includes site observations so the coach can shadow the leader and provide feedback on areas for improvement. Using the information gathered from the 360 leadership assessment and the coach observations, we develop a strategic plan to help prepare the leader to progress to senior management.
Departmental Coaching: We provide services to organizations thriving in one area but needing help in a particular department. A high turnover rate in staff often identifies these challenges, frequent complaints to human resources or senior management, and the department consistently failing to meet goals. Departmental Coaching requires a minimum six-month commitment. Department members will work with the coach in small and individual sessions to identify measurable goals and a plan to improve areas of concern.
Executive Coaching: We provide one on one Coaching to new and long-term executives on all areas of leadership, from work/life balance, complex decision making, relationship building (both internally within the organization and with external stakeholders), succession planning, and much more. Executive Coaching requires a minimum of a 4-month commitment; however, a one-year commitment is recommended.
